Her upstairs neighbor caught the footage and posted it on YouTube where
it went viral starting Wednesday, even though the date of the actual
incident happened a few weeks earlier per police reports.

Reports from Brazil indicate that dos Santos was summoned by local
police after an anonymous person turned a DVD of the attack over to the
Formosa police. The media giant Globo learned of the police interview
and sent their Jornal Hoje reporters to the police station. The police
chief told the reporters that dos Santos claimed to be "under stress"
which made her snap at the dog which had been, in her words, a monster
to handle.

The story has generated outrage in Brazil that may result in additional
federal animal protection laws and even charges against the woman for
homicide of a pet and infliction of emotional distress on a minor child.
Mrs. Dos Santos has retained an attorney who is representing her during
the investigation.
