You're talking about WMDs like there are fucking (pre-9/11) NUKES! THERE ARE NONE IN IRAQ, AND THERE NEVER WILL BE. Chemical weapons (among others) were reclassified to WMD status after the attacks. Saddam had chemical weapons before the attacks, then why didn't we send our entire army in there...? Oh yeah, that little thing called the Cold War... Russia had HUNDREDS of nukes pointed right at us, and did you see the US trying to invade Russia? No, because we would've been toast. Saddam (and Iraq as a country) has never been a viable threat to this country, and should ever be one. The attacks happening to our soldiers is because we are an invading force, and now with Saddam gone, Iraq is becoming more of a haven for "terrorists" that want to kill our men and women in uniform. We needed to never have gone into that country, MINDED OUR OWN BUSINESS LIKE THE FOUNDING FATHERS SUGGESTED. We wouldn't have nearly as many American soldiers die in vain."

Why are people still trying to say we should never be there in the first place? That was in 2002 and 2003. Guess what? We ARE there now. Seems to me regardless of what ever the original reason was you don't have to look far to see a reason to stay there, for the time being. If you are at all humanitarian you have to admit that the US forces stand between hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians and slaughter. There is a reason civilian deaths and US deaths are down after the redeployment of troops to nieghborhood FOBs. Death squads can not operate in the same location as US troops. When the Iraqis see that we plan on staying to protect them in their nieghborhoods they feel secure enough to take ownership for Iraqs future. What do you get from this? Tipoffs. What do you get from tipoffs? DEAD BADGUYS. For the people that believe Americans would never have invaded if they were not lied to, ponder this. There was alot of information out there that predicted a long struggle to rebuild Iraq after years of infrastructure neglect and totalitarian rule. People understood the possiblity of sectarian strife, the soldiers went anyway. Why? Because deep down my country believes we should try to help those less fortunate. Bottom line. That is why America dwarfs every other country in terms of charitable giving. That is the American people not the American government. So don't try to paint the US citizen as a sheep that if he or she only knew the truth they would change their mind. I really don't care what you feel the truth is. I've look at the facts and done some gut checking and reached my own opinion. I'm sure most people have done the same.
