In promoting his controversial new film, "Yellow," which features a woman who engages in a love affair with her brother in prison, Hollywood director Nick Cassavetes boldly stated in an interview with The Wrap his support for incestuous relationships, arguing that they should be regarded no differently from gay marriage:

“I have no experience with incest. We started thinking about that. We
had heard a few stories where brothers and sisters were completely,
absolutely in love with one another. You know what? This whole movie is
about judgment, and lack of it, and doing what you want.

"Who gives a shit if people judge you? I’m not saying this is an
absolute, but, in a way, if you’re not having kids, who gives a damn?
Love who you want. Isn’t that what we say? Gay marriage – love who you
want? If it’s your brother or sister it’s super-weird, but if you look
at it, you’re not hurting anybody except every single person who freaks
out because you’re in love with one another.”

Is anyone really surprised to see someone take the logical leap from gay marriage to [fill in the blank]? If people loving each other is the sole basis for marriage, then any mutual relationship in which people engage, whether it be bigamy, incest, or anything else, is permissible on the same grounds. At least Cassavetes is being intellectually honest and logical...even if the yuck factor of his comment has half or more of us retching.
