Important video about radiation in Japan-Please Bring Your Urine With You
Part of channel(s): 2011 Japan earthquake and tsunami (current event)

A public meeting between members of Japan’s Nuclear Safety Commission and residents of Fukushima did not quite go as the government officials had hoped, with attendees demanding to know what is being done to protect residents from elevated radiation levels detected outside the government’s arbitrary 20km exclusion zone, and Nuclear Safety members responding that Fukushima residents don’t necessarily have the right to live a healthy life free from radiation exposure.
Residents are demanding the government do more to reduce radiation level or else provide financial support to those wishing to evacuate.
Meanwhile, Japan seems content to pass laws censoring reports reflecting negatively on their response to Fukushima’s nuclear radiation.

  • They are scared for their children, and with good reason.
Governments exist to serve the governors, not the governed.

  • Saving the lives of these people should be priority number one. I can't imagine the government of Japan would show such disregard to it's own citizens...

    • @MFiera

Pretty stupid to say this from the comfort of my safe home but... this is a clear case of people turning to their governments as the ultimate authority like its their job to provide everything from a-z and are to be held responsible for everything that is or has gone wrong.

  • You either live in a "Free Country" where the corporate monsters actually control you, or you live in none-free country where the collusive corporations and the state control you. You and I are viewed only as consumers. We are allowed to make enough money to buy essentials which keep us fed and healthy. The area around Fukushima is all owned by the corporations which want to keep it going. The Nuclear power industry wants very much to not admit this catastrophe as it will make it hard More..

  • Make the officials move their families to the affected areas. Let their children pay the same price everyone else is. They would never do that. It's a little late in the game now, should have evacuated in the beginning.

  • Big Business runs the nations. Why isnt the USA testing radiation levels in California or anywhere else in the country? The USa is as much to blame as Japan. After all it was GE who built the shitty reactors.

  • Quite insane to see people still turning to those (in dare need for support/information) despite it being clear that exactly these people failed them.

Corporate monkeys. To them, the value of hundreds of thousands of people is priority TWO. The value of stable stock markets is priority ONE.

That's what japanese people have to understand ASAP, the government is absolutely the LEAST they could trust, it's like turning towards a criminal psychopatic thief to ask him to carry your most valued thin More..
