@H3dgehog Not only "after" slaughter, "after" sale. In China, they inject them with water so that the pig temporarily weights more so that the owner will be able to sell the pig at a higher price per pound. They don't do this practice in the U.S.

It's legal here, once they are dead though. Primitive savages we are! They pump heaps of brine into the crappy grade roast beef here especially.
Most bacon here is shit and real bacon; unpreserved or dried/salted, is now near impossible to find unless you can sort homekill.

However there are still companies who salt meat in the old way
One is Ganda ham in my home town
they cure the meat up to 12 months in salt ...........
