Pretty good til right at the end. Looks like his wing clipped the fence. I bet he was looking for a thermal to get back to his field but couldn't find one. No more soaring for him!

100% pilot error.As a glider pilot he should have been looking for a safe landing area well before he was so low that he had to choose a residential area.

@pluvial In looking at the video there was no ideal place to land. Everywhere around him was houses, trees and hills. Landing on that road looked to be his best option to minimize damage and bodily harm.

@subdude That was my point. At the time the video starts, he is already far too low to find a place of safety. Any glider pilot should be aware of potential landing places andc if at too low a height should not move on if no safe landing is visible. Basic rules of gliding
