An unidentified flying object has smashed through the roof of a family's home in Hawke's Bay, New Zealand. The projectile smashed into the lounge room of the home, while the the person who lived there was in another room.

It was first believed the UFO fell off a plane, but the Civil Aviation Authority said that couldn't be the case, after an engineer studied the UFO. They concluded that "we don't know what it's from".

The object is 11cm long and 4.5cm wide. It weighs about a kilogram. The CAA said: "It's not the kind of thing you'd want to put into space because it's too heavy. So it's a bit mysterious." Police are investigating.
