Lol!!!
"Failure"???
Looks like we have an especially dumb 'tard ranting about the war this evening!
Ya gotta love Andy!
He is just so utterly impervious to the facts that you just can't help but laugh at his ignorance, bigotry and stupidity. Normally, I wouldn't laugh at someone who is so obviously mentally imbalanced, but Andy made a deliberate choice to be a horse's ass so in his case I'll make an exception.

The goal of the surge was to allow Iraqis to take control of their own country. The dysfunctional Iraqi government is arresting Sunni leaders that helped US forces clear out foreign insurgents leading to renewed violence.

There are several goals not just one.
Yours was not one of them.
It was a benefit from a result of the surge.
The goal of the surge over all was and still is to kick ass and take names, in that order.
How the Iraqi government deals with it is not privy to you or I.
You can not say The Iraqi government is corrupt you have no way to know who is and who is not.
Only the Iraqi people have that right since they are free to vote.

This is only a part of the whole AP story.
Who cares, a pointless story. The US is leaving by 2011, and Iraq is no longer a failed state; and has 100B in revenue to buy crap, negotiate with Chinese oil companies, and govern and rebuild their country with less and less US assistance.
Have give Bush credit for not leaving while it looked hopeless, and having another Lebanon like situation, with 20 years of tribal/ethnic/proxy warfare. Apparently that is what everyone wanted.
How can anyone arg More..

Last I heard, the surge was so successful that they said they were going to leave sooner than 2011.
Now what?

If Rumsfeld sent the amount of troops his generals were demanding before he dismissed them all...the surge would have never been needed.
All the surge was...an attemp to rectify the serious depletion of Army forces in Iraq.
Don't froget about the back door deals we made to silence the opposition?
Money and arms to quite the Sunnis and Shia.

I looked at each statement you made. You know what?
You're right!
The money we paid to turn around the Sunnis was worth every penny. It helped break the cycle of violence. Now, they are being integrated into the Iraqi Army and Police.
It was a tactic, and it worked perfectly.
Peace in Iraq means our troops leave Iraq. So where's the down side?

I respect you for giving a counterpoint WITH some back-up.
My counterpoint is that there ARE now some Iraqi Army and police units that are predominently Sunni. And, one thing I have learned in life is that there are two sides to every story, so I wonder why this person has a warrant for his arrest. I wonder what the other side of the story on this person is.
As the future unfolds, the Shia majority would be wise to use their power carefully. Time will tell.
It doesn't surprise me t More..

Down point is that 4000 American soldiers had to die and another 35,000 had to get wounded before that IDIOT we call the commander in chief had enough sense to FINALLY get it right?
We also wasted more than a trillion dollars to get to this point.
That's the down side.
Our generals told him this 6 years ago but he and Rummy told them to shut up. It's criminal.

the Surge brigades have left. their job is complete. the country was in a downward spiral to hell in a handbasket, but GEN "Betrayus" (as so many of you libs refer to him) pulled us out of the mess that was nearly inevitable. did you expect Iraq to be a rose garden after the surge? shit, america is racked with violence within its own borders, so how do you expect Iraq to be any less?
yes, Bush/Dumbsfeld/Cheney were all idiots for not listening to the generals who requested more More..

Failure of the surge? Failure of the surge? Somebody is in too much of a hurry to announce of a failure of an operation that has barely started. I'm not a believer in the surge; clearly the extra troops were a drop in the bucket. It was Petreaus' negotiations with the insurgence and the Awakening councils that made the difference! Nevertheless, if I ever catch the lib troll who wrote this bullshit heading I will kick his ass, chase him out of Liveleak, catch up with him and kick his ass again. W More..
