IDF Soldiers Attack Photographers/Journalists in Ancient West Bank Village

On Friday, -17.8.12, B'Tselem volunteer documented the weekly demonstration in the village earlier protest the closure of the road linking it to Nablus. Video shows soldiers attacking a group of journalists and beat them with batons. Following the publication of the army announced that video opened Military Police investigation into the incident.

  • I saw no beating. I saw soldiers pull up to check them out. Then a couple of them in the background did NOT cooperate. I saw maybe two little whacks on the leg with the baton, nothing major. After the soldiers gained compliance, there seemed to be no more issues.

      And how exactly can the footage of soldiers beating journalists be "distorted"? Either they beat journalists or they didn't - where is the distortion? How would you excuse that? Because the journalists don't show the picture you'd like them to show?

  • It's always "Following the publication" that the "Military Police opens an investigation", you can meditate on the number of incidences where there is no camera, no video and hence, no investigation.

    Imagine the effect on the soldiers, doing there everyday work, only THIS time there is a camera, a video - and all of a sudden they are charged for doing what they always do. Or does anyone believe that is an exceptional case which just happened to happen when a camera was arou More..
