What would you do for two years? You could get a degree in two years, or HND or over half way to being a qualified plumber or similar. Throwing people into classes which are run by quango type contractors whos only concern are profits, doesn't help anyone. In Britain we lost the plot and told everyone that education was key, no it isn't. What is key, is key skills like carpentry, bricklaying, plumbing, mechanics, electrical engineering, baking, plastering, painting & decorating, metal workin More..

Look on the bright side mate, once you do this you should *in theory* walk away with some sort of qualification (I don't know what you have now)
My Mrs got a job that the job center said she HAD to apply for and is now at NQV Lvl 3 in nursing.
I work in the production engineering trade and I can tell you this much, she'll have skills needed when I can't find work.

Why dont you just get your own job, or make a business (in US it costs 100 bucks, thats it) and you say you are self-employed.

@Losers_Finish_Last Do yourself a favour and see if you can go on a plastering course , tiling course , bricklaying course anything but sit in that classroom , back in 96 the last time I was on the dole the courses were only a week long then and it is the most boring soul destroying thing to be on ...far better to learn a trade than to just be in a classroom being scolded by some knob head.
Do it while your young.

The Dole (or Welfare, as we call it in the States) has always had strings attached. That's the purpose of it: to control you. That said, you should make the most of the opportunity and see if you can develop a marketable skill set and maybe some employment opportunities.

@Losers_Finish_Last One British pound = $1.55 US so you get your broadband plus TV for $69 US. Assuming it's like American cable - basic cable is about 200 channels, 10 of which you actually watch - that's a good deal. For the same thing i pay $122, cable TV and internet. (Every time they talk about censoring the net, i find myself calculating in my head what i will do with all the extra money when i drop the internet which i will).

Yes you do have a choice , you either take the course and stop sponging off the rest of us or get a job and feed yourself . The money you get every week dosent come off the government it comes off us hard working folk . take a look around at the doctors , nurses , the ladie that serves you in the shop , the bus driver etc , those poeple are paying you to sit on your lazy ass , poeple like you shouldnt get any money at all , you should get food tokens and thats all ! or get a job you lazy cunt!
