Pieces of a B52 fall to earth in Hanoi, December 1972: US 'air pirate' captured
The US launched it's desperate bid to terrorise the heroic people of North Vietnam into signing a comprehensive peace deal with a bombing campaign campaign termed 'Linebacker II', which commenced on December 18th 1972.
The USAF acknowledges the loss of 15 B52's during Linebacker II, and five airframes written off due to battle damage.
The North signed a deal, but of course united Vietnam in 1975.
Forty three USAF personnel were lost in action.
1620 North Vietnamese civilians were killed.
