(KMOV) - Schools are allowed to ban students from wearing the Confederate flag on their clothing.
Monday, a federal judge ruled the Farmington School District had the right to suspend Bryce Archambo for wearing a confederate flag shirt.
Archambo challenged the punishment.
He says he's not a racist, and that he just wore the clothing to celebrate his Southern heritage.
The judge called Archambo's motivation for wearing irrelevant, because the courts recognize the Confederate flag as, "divisive in nature."
An appeal is likely.
Archambo no longer attends Farmington schools.
