I point out an island called Wallace island.
which was owned by David Conover the guy who discovered
Marilyn Monroe. I would like to do some metal detecting there this summer.

Nice post. Wallace island is a great place to visit, and possibly even a great place for metal detecting. Many of the cabins that once hosted the rich and famous you talk about still stand on the island and are frequented by boaters (we left a plaque in one of them a couple summers ago). I bet you would find some great stuff there.

@10fold Awesome.. Well my new job I am working from 5am-noon.. so i may have lots of extra time on my hands. Ill be making big time bucks so I may be able to afford one of those metal detecting thingys there. I do not want to start out all crazy and get the biggest and best. What you have seems to do the job there. About how much do those run you? Not saying yours is the biggest and the best. I want to start off a novice like everyone else.

the one I bought was $650.00 and the Pro pointer was about $130.00. The Garrett AT Pro is a perfect mid road detector. and it has out performed some of the higher end detectors. I researched it for about 3 months before I bought mine. I am VERY glad that I splurged and bought the Pro pointer.
BTW congrats on the new job. not an easy task in this day and age

I'm conditioned to expect what I see on American Gulf Coast beaches, which is tons of sand, the most pitiful vegetation you can imagine, and hundreds of people and condos. The sheer quiet and privacy of that place you were exploring is terrific in comparison.

they very in price.
The one that I have + the pro pointer cost me a little over $1000.00 after taxes.
I have got my eye on the minelab ctx 3030. that one runs close to $3000.00
