The man, who resides in China's Jilin province, lost both of his hands when a home-made bomb used in order to catch fish exploded prematurely. Lacking the funds to afford prosthetic hands, he spent eight years (presumably with a helper) constructing his won.
One cannot help but be impressed by his ingenuity - via elbow movement he's able to move the hands' fingers and thumbs enough to grasp various tools and function on his own. He admits some short-comings with his work, such as the inability to lift heavy objects and their tendency to become cold during winter months.
