Medical helicopter hits a power line, causes brush fire, while lifting off from accident scene

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa - No one was injured when a medical helicopter hit a power line while lifting off from the scene of an accident in Council Bluffs.

Pottawattamie County Sheriff Jeff Danker says the helicopter was called to help a man who had fallen off a ladder Wednesday evening.

Danker says the accident happened when the Life Net helicopter was taking off to transport the man to Creig More..

  • Looks like to me the lower right skid hit the wire not the rotors. Nice save by the pilot but with all that rescue equipment in the area they should have had the common sense to light up those lines with their spot lights

    They will charge the guys insurance company for the repairs listed as :
    Incidentals...asprin $74,800....Shock treatment , $100,300...if they used the defribulator....tac on another $23,400 to the tab

    Yeah, they got me one time for an ambulance ride.
    They asked me if I wanted a ride over to the next hospital since they were going there already, those ****ers charged me and I couldn't get out of it.

    $300 later...

    Yes, The Fire dept should have had that rescue, landing, take off site lit up with spotlights
