Pussy Riot's "punk prayer" (trial start today) 
At the opening of their trial on charges of inciting religious hatred, three young women who mocked President Vladimir Putin in a crude song performed on the altar of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior said Monday that they were prepared to take responsibility for "an ethical mistake." But they denied the formal criminal accusations read aloud by prosecutors.
Facing up to seven years in prison if convicted, the three women, members of a punk band called Pussy Riot, said they intended no offense to Orthodox Christians with their profane performance, which they described as a political demonstration.

I feel sorry for the people to whom the truth doesn't reach, those who still think they're (Pussy Riot) facing trial for demonstrating against putin.
There is a reason why they don't show this video on the news in western media, that's because anyone who watch it will conclue that it REALLY was huliganism.

I thought they were accused of steping onto the altar, but we don't see that in the video. You could pretty much expect them to get the full 7-year sentence had they done so, though. I don't think they'll get away with only a fine either, what they did was very stupid even by stupid standards.

The altar in an orthodox temple is located in a sanctuary, a space always separated from the rest of the building behind a wall with icons.
