Fox News Devastated Over Arrest Of ACORN Pimp, Says The Story Probably Needs 'A Lot Of Context'

Fox News has been one of the biggest supporters of James O'Keefe, who is infamous for dressing up as a pimp and videotaping ACORN staffers offering to help the supposed pimp and his prostitutes secure funding for a brothel. The network constantly replayed coverage from his operation. In September, Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace named O'Keefe his "Power Player of the Week," calling him an "undercover reporter" and a "fascinating character."

Yesterday, the FBI arrested O'Keefe and three others - "charged with entering federal property under false pretenses with the intent of committing a felony" - saying that they were plotting to wiretap Sen. Mary Landrieu's office (D-LA). One of the other men, Robert Flanagan, is the son of William Flanagan, the acting U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Louisiana. Two of the men "dressed as telephone company employees" and showed up to Landrieu's New Orleans office, saying they had to "fix phone problems." O'Keefe was already there and was "positioning his cell phone in his hand to videotape the operation".

  • Dressing up as telephone repairmen to tap someone's phone? They might as well have announced that they were going to commit a felony. And tapping the phone of a senator on some very sensitive security-related committees isn't exactly the brightest idea...did they think they were going to unveil another ACORN "conspiracy"?

  • As an outsider it looks like this O'Keefe chappie has overstepped the mark on this one. Of course that is not detrimental to anything he may have done in the past however much some would like it to be construed that way.

  • Wrong way of doing it. Unless you work for the FBI or the CIA.
I think this will get messier as we dig deeper.
Two wrongs don't make a right.

  • So the fringe bias media ignores ACORN stories and then criticizes anyone who jumps to conclusions and wants long investigations done over it. BUT the story pops up the fringe bias media is all over it and those involved are already facing time in prison based on the MSM opinion. Huuuuuuuuhhhhh interesting isn't it how they show their true colors! When is someone in the legal field going to get a set of BALLS and start investigating these organizations and expose them.

    • I'm not sure where people get this idea about the "liberal media" like what New York Times? NPR? CNN? etc.
Do a little research, it doesn't take much, those stories were more than covered...you couldn't get away from it at the time. Why do people insist on perpetuating myth?

    • whatever makes you feel better at night... if you think the MSM covered ACORN to the degree it shouldve seeing that they get YOUR TAX dollars okay then. Im sure in your world its probably a lot like Willy Wonka's "showroom" (classic movie) where everything is edible and everything in the world will be sunshine and lollipops.

    • I'm not sure I'm seeing the propaganda angle. Sounds like a factual news story. I'm not a FOX watcher, but it sounds like an accurate story, especially at the end where they say perhaps the guy was indeed tapping into the phone to gather more info on ACORN. Maybe I missed something.

    • if it's bad for FOX it's just a straight forward news story, just the facts. If it's good for FOX it's news embellished with political rhetoric & commentary.
That's not what a real American calls News. Real true red blooded Americans know the difference a propaganda
      machine and a news network.

    • also how is this propaganda? You need to look up the definition of it. They are reporting what happened dipshit

      Posted Jan-27-2010 By

    • What propaganda? They reported the arrest of some conservative political activists. They also summarized, pretty accurately, the importance of the story even though it didn't make conservatives look good at all. What's more, the Fox reporters didn't seem the least bit "devastated" as claimed in the title of this piece.
