Man with and AK47 attempted to enter Ft Leonard Wood Thursday May 12 Monday morning was an escaped convict. The guards turned the man away, but he entered the post without permission. A chase ensued right away as Military Police are trained at Ft Leonard Wood. The Man exited the Fort and tried to escape on the motorway heading East. The police chased the suspect to Rolla Missouri where he crashed his car. The suspect shot at police and passersby on the chase. The suspect lost police and stole a vehicle in a residential neighborhood. Last reports the man is now on the run.
