  • The US needs a close relationship with India. We have a lot of similarities (both formerly under control of the British, both Democracies, both nuclear powers). They have no love of radical Muslims and are not shy about taking them on. When Indians come to the States they seem to be quick to Americanize and join us. They are trying hard to fit in with us.

      Knowing history helps this out a lot. Not knowing it makes a debate almost impossible. Almost. I will put it another way.

      It is impossible to know for sure in the international world if our friend today will be a friend in one year. Now there are degrees of friendship yes... but even they are subject to the fact that we can not see in to the future. This is the reason we share a lot with Canada and the UK but not everything.
