Bikie link in Gold Coast siege

The man at the centre of a siege on the Gold Coast appears to have outlaw motorcycle links.

Police locked down Paradise Island resort about 12.30pm (AEST) on Thursday after receiving reports an armed man was inside.

Television news bulletins have shown images of the man inside one of the resort's units holding up a jacket with a Bandidos motorcycle club patch on it.

A police spokeswoman said late on Thursday the man was still inside the unit.

She could not confirm reports that a woman had been inside the unit with him but had escaped.

Motorists have been asked to avoid the area.
