Excellent post! And though the OWS crowd is flaky, I, for one, am damn glad they are there. Knowing that those wallstreet assholes are having to do the "walk of shame" every day makes me very happy. Wallstreet sold us out and big government sold their soul to allow it. The worse thing we could do is sit silently in our homes and say, "gosh, its the governments fault".

Anyone who thinks that growing the power of the state is going to make life better for average folk hasn't got a clue how life actually works. While no government presents problems, too much is even worse. The trick is to find the optimal level of government. The problem with the Occubaggers is that they want the primary role of government to be kleptocratic, taking wealth from those who earned it and giving it to lazy fat jerks who bang bongos all day. When that happens, those who know More..

Separating the two in the first place is what you been taught, the middle is the obvious. So tell me , what is your stance. Are you even standing?

I agree. The Venn diagram is correct.
But the thing is, the government is kept in check (at least to some limited degree) by democracy, the courts, and the constitution. Corporations are kept in check by government regulation. So if government power is marginalized, there's nothing to keep the corporations in check. Therefore it's better to have the balance of power lean strongly towards government.

one major problem, the TEA party is not over run with socialist, marxist, communist, anarchist progressives backed by corrupt unions, fringe media, special interests(ie MoveOn.org, Code Pink etc) and George Soros' billions.
TP wants the nation restored and govt restricted they arent actively seeking or engaged in rhetoric similar to bho's fundamentally transforming the USA. Capitalism is what this nation is based off of outside of people escaping oppression they came here to maek a life for the More..

@aa316 Yup, the protesters are being hijacked by all of these exact factions. Most of the infiltraters DO actually want to bring down America. Well said my friend.

Tea baggers want to do away with Government.
wall street Bankers want to do away with Government.
Tea baggers end up corporate sheep carrying the wall street bankers message and not questioning where and who their message came from could be the hidden enemy.

Yes, and both are solved by attacking the root of the problem; the governments excessive control and regulations which are hurting our small businesses, and the governments frivolous spending.

well i agree they both want the same thing.. personally i would like to see just one law change, and it would solve the problem for both sides. put an end to limited liability, so that shareholders and CEO's are held 100% accountable for losses, that would a stop to the government being bought, and the corporations spending like they have a bottomless money pit, and shareholders gambling like they own the casino

The middle part is the reason you start seeing Tea Baggers sneaking into the OWS, but they will not admit they are conservatives.

@Timbertoes
>OWS (not a movement) LMAO.
You just dismiss it because its mostly young people in almost every state and every country in the world. My you are so smart.
I agree with both arguements because I do understand it.
Allot of it comes down to "how" its spent.
10 years ago we had a balance budget, remember?
I want the govt to protect us but they go way past that. (while cutting taxes) and then claim were broke.
Wait until the troops come home and see which moveme More..

@dcmfox People who are against OWS do so at the risk of losing credibility with most everyone in their life. People are not stupid enough to not know that wall street could be called kleptomaniacs and it would not be an exaggeration.

Protesters threw rocks and bottles at police, which prompted police to respond with tear gas, bean bags, and rubber bullets after the Occupy crowd refused to remove themselves from the area.
One good thing about the Tea Party protesters is that they got permits for their protests, kept within the bounds of those permits, and cleaned up after themselves before leaving.

And lest you suggest that the police are lying in their claim of rocks and bottles being thrown, here is Lawrence O'Donnell asking a protester about the claim. Her response? "Yeah, people were doing that." She's unfazed, matter-of-fact, and looks as if she feels completely justified in the Occupy protesters engaging in this violence.
Really, though, that's what the OWS people want. They can't win a policy debate. Any attempt More..

@buzzardist, I just do not believe they threw rocks at police without provocation and the right to assemble does not require a permit IMO, against the constitution.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances
