South Dakota GOP: Killing abortion provider is justifiable homicide

In a disturbing development religious conservatives in South Dakota have introduced a bill in the State House of Representatives that would sanction the murder of abortion providers. Under the new law such killings would be considered justifiable homicide.



House Bill 1171 has already made it through committee in the Republican dominated South Dakota House. The GOP bill would de-criminalize the shooting of doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers at clinics providing abortion services.

The South Dakota bill is part of a nationwide effort by anti-choice extremists to all but eliminate access to abortion services. This trend is deeply disturbing, and poses a direct threat to a woman's constitutionally protected right to reproductive freedom
