Some say that a cockroach on the court is good luck, and one just so happened to
appear on the court during Lleyton Hewitt’s first round match
against Cedrik-Marcel Stebe at the Australian Open. That would
bring him enough luck to reach the fourth round, and eliminate two ranked
opponents on the way (Andy Roddick and Milos
Raonic), however, he would eventually fall to world No. 1 Novak
Djokovic.
I guess this cute ball girl should have left the cockroach on the court for
just a little longer so that Hewitt could have absorbed a few more rounds worth
of luck.
On a side note, I’m not sure why she was so embarrassed following the
incident. Most people wouldn’t have even picked the insect up in the first
place. Check it out.
