Semi crashes into cruiser
The Iowa State Patrol has released video of just how dangerous Iowa’s roads were during December’s blizzard. Troopers and the Iowa National Guard had to rescue dozens of stranded motorists.
In the video above a trooper is about to get out of his car to help a woman on Interstate 80 near Williamsburg. The camera in the trooper’s car captures a semi-truck sliding then jack-knifing into the patrol car.
The man you see inside the car in another motorist who had already been rescued from his car..

I think the load that the semi was carrying,were crates of watermelons.....he was trying to get out of the car fast to see if they were alright! He was thinking he could claim them...sorta' like roadkill.

He was lucky: the wheels of the truck hit the car on the bumpers so the shock was absorbed by the hard part of the car: one meter left, and the car would have gone cabrio. lucky, lucky.

These guys are alive because they stayed in the car with seat belts on. Staying in your car with your seat belt on is not guaranteed to keep you alive but it's better to have a steel cage around you then to be outside with a North Face coat as your only protection when going up against a big rig.
