plasticknee has the most disgusting posts on the internet. What an incredible talent you have to find these. I alternate looking at them in shock and fascination and then looking away and gagging.

Thanks! It does take a lot of time. But When I do strike gold, its several vids from one source. Believe it or not, there are some I haven't posted yet that I can't even watch. Don't worry though, I saved 'em!

Grow a stomach. This isn't disgusting. Dogs get worms. Simple as that.

I'm a Vet Tech. Miasis is spelled myasis and is any infestation of a body cavity or wound by flies or larvae. This poor dog was, believe it or not, probably saved from rampant infection of the wound by the maggots. They're gross and creepy, but they feed off of dead tissue only and likely "cleaned" that wound out significantly before the dog got to a vet.

To the best of my ability it means: "maggot/fly larvae infestation".

Those aren't surgical maggots that were put in there deliberately to clear dead tissue are they?

I don't think so. I'm thinking this was a dog brought to an animal shelter; either as a stray or neglected.

Nothing like getting right in there and tearing those lil bastards out of there! I would think flushing them out with saline would be a little easier on the dog but then again I'm not a vet. Sad to see a dog or any animal in this condition.

maggots only eat dead flesh so they should have helped to clean the wound

Miyasis is an infection of insects (maggots and such) and no - not all maggots feed off just dead flesh. Screw Fly Larvae feed off healthy flesh also (look up the maggots in boys head vid). That's a good example of Myiasis.
