OP: This happened a very short while ago.
I am shooting footage of people praying in mosques to include in my upcoming trailer for my documentary, "Guilt Is My God: Why We Left Islam".
Before the call to prayer, I stacked some college text books on top of each other and placed my cell phone on top of them at just the right angle to get the shot you see in this video. After I made the setup look as inconspicuous as possible, I then went off to join in, pretending to pray along.
Halfway through the prayer session, this 6'4" Somali teenager comes and snatches my phone away. Little did he know that the phone was STILL SHOOTING, and that he inadvertently caught himself in the act.
The local mosque goers were sympathetic to my plight, and have quickly organized a team to both find the phone and the perpetrator.
The phone was found hidden under one of the toilets in the Mosque's restrooms. The young gentleman was caught as well, calling me and everyone in the mosque "racists" and a "bigots", adamantly denying that he was the thief.
Even though I had incriminating evidence in my possession that could have put him in juvenile detention for a good while, I decided not to press any charges.
