IN RESPONSE TO MB_UK! He's doing his best to diss my country. I've done nothing but support my Fathers 'Mother Country' England (look at my comments)...but I can't stand around and let that jerk diss my country, post after post.
The number of homeless people in the UK has risen by 17%, according to the latest figures released today by the government.
The statistics, released by the Department for Communities and Local Government, measured the rate of homelessness between April and June this year.
A total of 11,820 applicants were accepted by local authorities as being legitimately homeless, in need of "homeless help" and therefore eligible to go on to a council house waiting list.
This figure is 17% higher than in the same quarter in 2010.
Homeless charities say the rise should act as a warning to the Government and have called for an end to cuts.
But Housing Minister Grant Shapps said that despite the recent rise, homelessness was still at a "historic" low level.
He said: "Whilst homelessness remains at a historic low, today's figures underline how the effects of the worst recession for a generation continue to deliver difficult times for households up and down the country.
"But anyone facing financial difficulty or the prospect of losing their own home is not alone. There is help available and everything will be done to help people avoid homelessness."
Meanwhile, new research published by homeless charity Crisis warns that the situation is set to get even worse.
The Homelessness Monitor: Tracking the Impacts of Policy and Economic Change in England, commissioned by Crisis and undertaken by Heriot-Watt University and the University of York, warns that after years of stable or falling levels of homelessness, 2010 marked the turning point when homelessness in all its forms started to rise again due to the economic downturn.
Leslie Morphy, chief executive of Crisis, said: "Today's official figures prove once again we now face a sustained increase in homelessness but, worryingly, this research predicts the worst is yet to come.
"The coalition Government is dismantling the buffers against poverty and unemployment that have traditionally kept a roof over vulnerable households' heads.
"Homelessness is rising and we fear cuts to housing benefit and housing budgets, alongside reforms in the Welfare Reform and Localism Bills will cause it to increase yet further."
She added: "We need the Government to change course now or risk returning us to the days of countless lives facing the debilitating effects of homelessness."

@MrScabs There are 305 million people in the U.S today. We're on track, with current immigration numbers, to add another 135 million in just 40 years. That means more stress on the environment. More roads. More cars. More oil. And more pressure on the economy and on a healthcare system that isn't working. Before we can honestly address the problems facing us, we need to have a serious discussion about the numbers of unwanted third world people that the government lets in here illegaly and legaly More..

I love our brothers and sisters across the pond and hope nothing but their success in regaining their Nations from the claws of the degenerate Left.
My heart goes out to their daily struggle of wading through the throngs of MB-UK's of their Societies. It is the braindead populous that takes a Society down the gutter more so than those who misrepresent them at government levels. It starts with the individual.

@1812 Ummmm, the article is about homelessness...the whole point is that the UK is not a 'welfare state'..people aren't allowed to fall into homelessness in many other European countries
We won't let you fundamentally rot from disease here like in the US, there's some civility, but certainly no safety net

Ok, from a Brit...yes, this is essentially true
However, the same can be said of the US, i.e. the more economically static countries of Europe have a higher standard of living on many measures than either the UK OR US
BUT, you can't make it in those Euro countries...both the US and UK give their populations plenty of opportunity to succede. Professional people in the UK make a lot more money than their brothers in France and taxes are lower here
Plus, homelessness has shot up in the US throug More..

Fotoman: Soon enough Muslims will be in the majority in England. MB-UK is motivated by jealousy as his once-proud country is overrun by barbarians.
Makes you wonder why this Englishman has nothing better to do than obsess about a foreign country. Must be jealous rage.

my 2cents, he's a bitter old man who can't get over the decline of his country, at one point his anti semitic/anti American views were considered the height of British sophistication, but now that millions of Muslim immigrants have joined the chorus it's all just static and nobody pay's attention
