Some people just have no sense of humor when assassination attempts are directed at them including Hussein. He gassed "his own people", er, well no, he didn't. He gassed a bunch of Kurds which were not "his own people".

Rommel comes across as the kind of person who'd sit down and drink whiskey with Patton after the war and Patton would have welcomed him. Of course if things had worked out a little differently, they could have had a contest to see which one could blow the f*ck out of Uncle Joe (Stalin, not Biden) first. I often ponder the difference that might have been had we not gotten possession of Germany's most secret codes. They in their arrogance, never considered the possibility.
As a result we knew every move the German troops were making even before the Rank and file German trooper knew.
