2009 Honda Rebel + your thoughts

Hey fellas I'm in the market for a cruiser, something me and my wife can ride on the weekends. I've owned 97 GSXR 750 and an 01 Yamaha R6 but they aren't very fun to ride especially with somebody in the back. I'm looking at the Honda Rebel 250 or the Yamaha v-star 650 or something else but I'm not familiar with cruisers. If any of you are, your thoughts/input/recommendations would be very helpful.

  • Go with a V-Star... it maybe 500-600 more than your top end but it's a 650 and should be able to handle 2 people better than the Rebel. They feel bigger than they are and should have enough power for you.

  • It comes down to what you want, but if you go with the 250, you will only want more power later on. Especially since you have ridden sportbikes before, you might miss the power.

  • A motor cycle needs to be at minimum 650 cc to do any traveling.

  • 250 too small, I had a 600 in Hawaii and it was perfect for me and the wife.

  • My friend has a yamaha 650 dragster nice bike im sure you could get a great 1 for 5000 or way less second hand.I had a kawasaki vulcan 1500 94 great bike the seat is like a cosy armchair and the passenger seat is raised higher so the person can see in front came in handy as im 6ft 7 passengers could then see the road ahead lol great sounds off it too.

  • You need at least 500cc for riding two up on the street.

  • F**ck that Jap-Crap bike. That's my opinion. Why ride a f**cking rip-off...why ride a fake?

  • a rebel is not really adequate for two people. only if you are small or a beginner should you think about a rebel. if you buy it, you'll soon want something bigger and i dont know if it has the get up and go when you need it, especially if you have someone on the back. could be a bit dangerous.

  • I ride a Harley. But I would recommend a V Star 1100 or a Shadow 1100. Cheap used, enough power for two up and very reliable. My son rides a Shadow 1100. His wife prefers riding on my bike :)

    • lol nice, hope your friend is not a liveleaker. I did sit on an 1100 vstar today at the dealer and powered it up, had cobra pipes and it was awesome! I totally want one.

    • LOL! My Son knows that she prefers riding on my Harley. It's got more room and it's smoother than his 1100 Shadow. BTW: Good choice on the 1100 VStar. Bitchin' bike with bitchin' sound. I ride a '04 Softail. I also have three cages and prefer my bike over all of them. Enjoy the cruiser and ride safe man.

  • It is a small bike, almost a "girls" model.

  • My father has a Honda rebel. I think it is totally useless. I am 5'7" my legs feel really cramped when I ride it. The first gear is totally useless. It may be a good bike for a small female but that's it.
