The 15kt Grable shot was an artillery delivered airburst. The test name was mnemonic code for "Gun". The shell traveled 10,000 meters before detonation. The 280 mm shell used a "gun-type" fission weapon assembly method like the Little Boy bomb.

Wow... those gun-type atomic weapons were inherently dangerous. An accident such as a fire or a collision could set them off. Crazy using it as an artillery round.

I don't see why they even wasted money on this stuff. Don't get me wrong, thats some badass shit. But the 15Mt nukes woulda killed everything on this planet, and then maybe the nereby planets when this one blew up.
