  • Just to be fair about this it is currently approved with bipartisan support with those that have come out for it, and equally disapproved with bipartisan numbers. There ARE more Democrats than Republicans currently in support of it, though by a narrow margin. It was a begun by a Republican. This is realistically a bipartisan issue and has nothing to do with Dems or Repubs, just scumbags for it and those for freedom against it, period. Just the facts http://projects.propublica.org/sopa/

    • @Roxtar

Great post and you're 100% right, it has nothing to do with R or D it's the people that are bought off by the conglomerate lobbyists versus the people who were not. They are ALL bought off so people need to stop with this retarded democrats and republicans nonsense, this shit is soo much LARGER than that.

    • @Roxtar Holy shit someone who knows what they're talking about.

It's about money for some and about freedom for others.

    • @Amusing "Some" of the dirtiest? I submit that they are THE dirtiest players. They want to profit from our requirement to buy the same things that they get for free. Fuck 'em.

  • This man has a very perverted interpretation of freedom. Limits on speech? When? Maybe now!

And most politicians do feel that way about the people. They think that we are too stupid to manage ourselves and that we cannot be trusted to do what is in our best interests.

They think that we need to be protected from ourselves. They are all wrong.

  • First, your title is a misstated point altogether. The vast majority of Democratic politicians are stone-cold AGAINST SOPA whereas all but about 6 of the Republicans oppose it.
Next, this guy is not sitting in a chair with all four feet on the floor...so take his perspective with a grain of salt.
Then, gun control (or a lack thereof) has nothing to do with SOPA and doesn't have any tangible links that show how that kind of censorship would spread to gun rights.
Finally, I'm 1000% AGAINST SOPA More..

    • @mistamista Completely WRONG... Bills Sponsors ARE DEMOCRATS...they get their money from HOLLYWOOD who pushed for the bill...The Majority of the supporters of the bill ARE DEMOCRATS. Obama was FOR the bill before he was 'against' it.

Do yourself a favor and look up who supports sopa before you make an even larger fool out of yourself.

    • @calamera No, but Rep. Lamar Smith (R) Texas certainly is. Not only is he the author, but the most vocal supporter. He defended it against three opposition Democrats on Fox News no less. It's SO fucking bad when Democrats defend themselves against a conservative on Fux News.

    • @calamera By the way. I didn't mean for my reply to come across as hostile toward you specifically. The person you responded to is so dumb that it occupied my thought beyond their post and bled into yours. Sorry if it was misconstrued.

    • @XjamesX

It actually is the democrats. The bill has democrat backers, and a democrat president will be signing it. The republicans would pass the bill as well, though.

I just got off work. Didn't get a chance to read that. Great news...if he's not full of shit.

He's still on the hook for NDAA.

Don't know about that. But at some point he will be inevitably bound to find a compromise with the Congress, that's how the system is intended to work.

    • @Valerie2007

Also, IMO, the reason he went against it is not respect for freedom: it's a matter of self-preservation. He knows that if the bill passed, he'd be vote out so fast his dog would get left behind.

Let's see how things pan out if he wins the upcoming election. We all know how truthful he has been so far.

  • I emailed both of my senators and my congressional representative this morning letting them know I hope they vote NO on this bill. I hope everyone else did the same thing. I'll be damned if these bastards are gonna stop me from watching the NBA and NFL for free on my computer damnit!

It'll be generations before real trust is re-established.

Think of how many people willingly give funds over to the fed in the form of taxes, because they think it will be put to good use. Not many. Americans will usually go any length to avoid taxes, and its not just greed at work.

  • The fact that its a democrat sponsored bill, supported by the majority of democrats, with Wassermannschults as co-sponsor, tells you everything you need to know.

Liberals have always been against freedom of speech. Especially if you go against the party line. No surprise.

    • @VikingRapeSquad What fantasy world did you get your info from? Get your facts strait. The bill was introduced by Congressman Lamar Smith (Republican) and co-sponsored by Senator Marco Rubio (Republican). Is the Republican party so scared of losing the election this year that they have resorted to just out right lies?

  • I guarantee this bill will pass. Freedom is secondary to lobby interests. When it passes, SOPA will put the US back a hundred years as far as freedom and creativity.

  • This "freedom" to 'open carry' as if we were living in the Wild West is nonsense. I'd feel very uneasy about people sporting guns of all manner at some heated political event. The weapon is a form of intimidation and thus denies me my freedom to freely debate opening in a political forum.

Enough with the NRA 'I'll show you who's boss' gun BS.

BTW, I am not saying that I support what numbnuts in the video is saying 100%.
