Do most Americans not like soccer because we have a short attention span?

Also, football (soccer for Americans) has been around a lot longer than American football. So why didn’t Americans name American football something else or as just “American football” instead of “football” which was named already in Europe?

Wouldn't most Americans find American football boring if it lacked all those commercial breaks?
