Looks to me like they lost the engine and the pilot tried to do an auto rotation but didn't have the altitude or time to pull it off.

Engine failure at :06. You can see the tail twitch and hear the engine start to wind down. He responded correctly given his low altitude which made it close to being a hovering autorotation with forward motion. It's critical to hit skids level on a chopper like this. He almost got it right. Coulda been a lot worse considering he was in the deadman's curve when it happened.

@Saros It would have been better at 200'. He might have be able to get the skids placed and do a successful autorotation. Helicopters are very different flyers.
