On August 18th several terror cells infiltrated into Israel from Egypt and opened fire on passing cars, killing civilians.
They were well prepared and heavily armed and also made ambushes to the coming security forces.The situation created a war zone and allot of confusion, which lasted for several hours, in which civilians and soldiers were killed, including one IDF soldier who was shot by mistake by his comrades. among the victims were also several Egyptian soldiers which probably were killed during the heavy exchange of fire between the security forces and the terrorists.

The Egyptians used this incident in order to launch a fierce anti-Israel campaign,demanding an apology (which was given to them) and threat to harm the peace accords.

As a result a mass of Egyptian mob began rioting in front of the Israeli embassy in Cairo for several times.During the last time they managed to break the walls and infiltrate into the compound, storming the embassy building on their way to reach and harm the diplomat stuff. The Egyptian security forces eventually intervened after a direct order which came from Washington and saved the diplomats lives.

The diplomats returned back to Israel but already came back to Cairo on the recent days.
