he chase took place near Dwellingup, about 100km south of Perth at 9.30am today, with the man racing across minor roads, farm and bush tracks and ploughing through fences.As he attempted to evade police, wire from the fencing was being dragged along by the stolen vehicle.
A small fire started after grass caught underneath the vehicle was set alight.
Police say the Toyota Landcruiser was stolen from the Boddington volunteer fire captain and was fitted with fire fighting equipment.Police spotted the utility travelling along the Pinjarra to Williams Rd, near Boddington, about 9.30am.
The 28-year-old male driver refused to stop, with police pursuing the vehicle towards Dwellingup.
After passing through Dwellingup, the stolen vehicle took to minor roads, bush and farm tracks, and paddocks.
"The car rammed through numerous fence lines (estimated to be around 20-30), causing significant damage. Lengths of fencing were being dragged along by the vehicle as it drove off from police,'' police said."The driver was eventually apprehended when the car rolled in a creek line. The driver attempted to run from the vehicle, but was apprehended quickly by police.'' driving, failing to stop, no authority to drive and criminal damage.
