this happened to my father back in the late 80s. the truckwheel came from the same line though, however the car was totally fucked and had to be thrown away...

Saw this happen a few weeks ago.
Some jacked up custom off road pickup truck was crusing down the other side of the highway in a construction zone, his front right tire goes flying off into the construction site and he rides the concrete barriers they put out there until there is a shoulder for him to pull off to.
