  • i know we may kill civilians and you always see bad stuff about the U.S. in the news but were not ruthless people we have a heart to and it may seem like we dont but we do and this is just one example of that

  • Sad? The war is sad, but it's war and you can't do shit about it. These kids live in the middle of it. So I think it's a really nice gesture to hand out some candy to the kids! Probably worth a lot to them. Thumbs up for decent soldiers! :)

  • God's honest truth, the only thing sad is knowing these kids are born to fail. They are raised to die for reasons they don't know. The lucky ones get a ticket over here, the rest are destined to rot in the hell they call home. No matter the race, religion or local dialect, no children should have to go through this.

    • @Tempted what about the kids in USA who accidentally shoot themselves with all the guns laying carelessly around. americans kill each other more than the taliban has in the last 12 years, so who's country is the worst ?

    • @Jeff Sulyma You are really asking who's country is worse? I'm eating lunch from KFC in my air conditioned 4 bedroom house on my computer with high speed internet. I'm about to get in my truck and go fishing. Tomorrow I am riding my Harley to Tennessee to visit some friends where I will have a few drinks and a cook out. Sunday I am coming home to sleep in my bed to get ready for the upcoming week. These kids can't do any of that. If someone breaks into my home I will shoot them. If someone tries More..

    • @Tempted Isn't it America with the highest number of murderers considering to the population? In Germany we have one of the hardest weapon laws on earth. Isn't it funny, that we have a lot less murderers here? Think about it.

But I agree with you. Children shouldn't live like they do there. I'v been in Kabul for more than a year and it's terrible to see how they have to live. The children have to suffer for a war that they will never understand but they will learn to live with war instead to le More..

    • @volvo240fahrer --Germany is about the size of Montana. No wonder it has less murders than THE WHOLE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA ! Damn bozo.

  • It's a nice gesture, but could the soldiers at least make an effort to learn a few phrases in the native language?

  • Good job on the candy, but on the note of the maniac who killed all those innocent kids.

I have backed our troops through thick and thin and will continue to do so, but I would be lying if I told you if some maniac like that from a foreign invasion force killed my children, that I would'nt plant Ied's , shoot rocket propelled grenades at them, and do everything in my power to kill them.

Get the fuck out of Afghanistan. We did our job. Come home.

  • These kids, like all kids haven't been taught to hate yet, they enjoy simple things like candy and playing. Saddest part is in ten years they may well become hate filled morons like thier parents.

  • Why doesn't the damn media show this kind of stuff on TV? They only show the things they think are bad and even then they take it out of context to fit their agenda.

  • it is always sad to see innocent children living in the middle of a war. but if anything that is the generation we should be reaching out to, to possibly change their views on the west imho.

  • I like to think that when these guys get a rare chance to call home, they say something like...

    "I'm fine, I'm, OK - keeping safe.

If you want to send me stuff, then send sweets. Things I can give to the kids out here...."

    That's what I would write.
    Would keep me sane.

  • Good luck with the sharing. We gave candy to some kids in Egypt and our guide had to actually slap a kid to the ground to get her to give up even one piece of a huge bag to any other kid there.

  • Truth is it is stuff like this that helps. A memory like this in the mind of the right child will last forever. Of course we shouldn't be there in the first place it is good to know that we still have soldiers who believe in the hearts and minds objective. I am willing to bet we have more hearts and minds soldiers than any other kind. Most have children themselves

  • What was sad about giving kids candy? I thought it was a good gesture for the innocent kids who happen to be in a hostile part of the world. It only takes a feww terrorists to ruin it for everyone.
