I was raised just outside of Cleveland. I wouldn't call the place a tourist destination, but the folks there have a thick skins, a strong sense of identity, and a sense of humor.

I'm not surprised at all.It makes sense really.One would have to have a sense of humor and a thick skin to stay sane amidst the destruction of that once great city.There are good people everywhere and there are strong contingents of conservatism even in the bluest states.

That cracked me up. I could do the same here in Fort Worth Texas. Here you are either super rich or dirt poor. The middle class neighbor hoods are surrounded by section 8 housing and apartment buildings. You drive down one street and its Richy riches Hood and turn the corner and its skid row.
