I've got a new respect for nanoseconds, although I still love microseconds.

This is also the woman who first used the word 'bug' in reference to a computer failure, after she found a real bug in the switch of the giant mainframe ENIAC.

@FrankFrimann ummm, I think you missed that part, she said it was a picosecond long (about 0.3 mm).

@FrankFrimann According to how fast an electrical current moves through copper wire? Yes. However I wouldn't be so proud once fiber optics come into play.
Your poor little bugger....

Rear Admiral Grace Murray Hopper (December 9, 1906 – January 1, 1992) was an American computer scientist and United States Navy officer.
I would have liked to have met her.

Nice. But "Grace Hopper"? Sounds like some super villain/hero "Grasshoppers"s real name in a comic.

I remember when she showed up at my computer science class in the '70s. She was a very entertaining speaker. I don't think she went anywhere without that little wire. Too bad she passed away (at a ripe old age) before quantum computing was invented.

Brings back memories in more ways than one.
In my early 20s I was into testing military grade memory chips.
4K emitter coupled logic devices.
Ran at 50 MHz.
We tested them down not to nanoseconds, but steps of 125 picoseconds.
Heavy shit indeed.
I rember my boss dropping a metal plate of about ten devices on the cleanroom floor. He chipped one of them. The collection was worth about the same as a family house at the time.
We learnt through trial and error that a dynamically refreshed memory More..
