Hunza landslide - A disaster foretold

The village of Attabad is located near a bend in the river. In early 2003 already there were signs of geological stress and shifting. The people reported their observations to the government, whose officers travelled to have a look. A report was made, and nothing else.

Now the villagers are internally displaced (IDPs). In the dead of winter they live in tents in an inhospitable and dangerous area with hardly any flat surface to pitch their tents.

The English subtitles have some mistakes but remember that for these people English is a difficult language to master.

The music is typical of the Hunza Valley.
