What a life, knowing that the only reason you are not replaced by a machine is because the boss is too cheap to buy one.

200 RMB is about $32. He is doing one book every 5 seconds (watched the video and clocked him), so that is 12 books a minute, or 720 books an hour. That's 36 RMB which is $6 an hour. However, to make 200 RMB only requires 5.5 hours a day and most Chinese workers do much more than that. What also can be taken into account is that the guy eats lunch, takes breaks and whatnot.
Perhaps this guy lives on company housing and just easts rice and vegetables all day. 4,000 RMB is not that bad of a sala More..

@senor boogie woogie When i was at university we had a guy take a class who used to work for BMW, he did a game with us (you might know it) where you pic your fav colours and put them in order, then you refer to a book it tells them about their personality etc. You do the test twice for better results. (not telling them their results the first time). He said the game was developed by the military originally. With regards to your ''not mentally taxing'' comment. The guy from BMW said depending o More..

@Truegreatness73
listen..doing such a simple operation endlessly for months or maybe years is not something we consider a job in the west.
Plus a machine that carries books on a belt, makes them fall into plastic bags and the seals them with tape or thermally costs less than a year's wage of any western human being.
Using people this way is just plain chinese, let them rot their lives like this.

@LoveShock You have a Italy flag and you said, "is not something we consider a job in the west". American and Italy "west" is not even close to the same thing. Also you have a seinfield avatar which is a American show?? the fuck? So much contradictions.
Anyways back to the point, so if you dont consider this a "job in the west" then what do you consider a job? 70% of the jobs in America (west) consist of this. Also I hope you dont consider Italy the west(like Amer More..

@Truegreatness73 You don't seem to know a lot about what you're talking about. America isn't the only "western" country when you look it up. It's called "the western world" for a reason. Usually, it also includes a lot of Europe.

He could be faster. I worked Production a LONG time before I became a QA Inspector.
If he turns the book stack and the bag pile each 90degrees, he can slide each book directly into a bag without picking it up.
If he bags books in stacks of 20, then tapes in 20, he can eliminate the setting down and picking up of the tape dispenser 19 times for each sequence.
This will also allow more uniform output: notice his pile of "dones" is a mess.

@killbucket he doesn't pick the book up anyway... and how can you tape books that are underneath other books? you can't, you can't get to them without lifting them off... the bit you tape would be blocked, obviously.

@niltomega yep i worked at a paint factory and some paints are thicker than others(hammerite for eg.)and i had to put the extra ball bearing in the can for eight hours a day,it was a little mind numbing.

Your right. The factory I worked at had incentive pay (the more you make, the more you take) and that wasn't too bad...however doing the same thing 8 hours a day was still torture.

@niltomega Yeah, I've had 2 really bad jobs. One was in a poultry factory where I had to stand for 8 hours a day pulling the windpipe out of decapitated chickens as they came along the line and slapping them in a bucket. The other was chipping the cement off of reclaimed bricks with a hammer and chisel, literally mountains of them, then when we got close to finishing a truck would dump another load off.
I cant imagine purgatory being much worse...
Still, it motivated me to join the army and then More..

Sim Yeng you have only wrapped 350 books this hour, what is wrong with you?
Nothing Sir!
Would you like me to report you to the government? Maybe they will kill your wife or have your son come help you?
I've got it Sir...
See that you finish 4,000 today or I will make sure one of those things happen...
