Intelligence ². Is the Catholic Church a force for good in the world?

This Intelligence ² debate is not new to LL - but sometimes things need to be reloaded.

The formidable Christopher Hitchens and Stephen Fry explain, very clearly, why the Catholic Church is NOT a force of good in the world, ending in the audience voting results and red faces from Ann Widdecombe and John Onaiyekan.

  • Dear Mr.Fry

I sure hope you "pray" to God that the Catholic church stays as the prominent faith in your country.

At the current rate that the Muslims are multiplying, you will become an easy target in just a matter of a few short years.

Your sexual orientation presents a massive target on your back. This is something the Islamists condemn far more strongly than the Catholic church.

I wish you luck with that.

    • @MB-UK call each other what you will. Intelligence and reason will ALWAYS trump superstition, fear and ignorance. I hope one day the two of you can reach that level.

    • @Neo My adversity to homosexual activities is not my choosing, I was born this way. I think you should be less judgmental, be more open minded, and inclusive.

  • Thanks for posting this. Stephen fry seems to be far better at saying what I think than I am. I'm not sure why but I'm not as much of a fan of Hitchens. I don't disagree with everything he says, I think it's just the way he comes across.

I've said it before but I'll say it again, the Catholic church's ban on condoms has killed more people in Africa in one year than Islamic terrorism has globally in 11.
