It was a sad weekend for Cindy Phillips and her
family. Their cat Georgie stumbled in to their yard Sunday afternoon
with an arrow through her head. Minutes later, she died.


"Animal cruelty has just gone way too far," said Phillips. "It's just awful."


The
2 year old cat left behind six, four week old kittens, but Phillips
said that the worst part is that her five year old grand-daughter saw
the cat with the arrow through its head.


"The fact that someone
in a quiet neighborhood that we live in could be that cruel, and the
fact that my five year old daughter is the one who found the cat is
terrible," said Shannon Masonia, Phillips' son-in-law. "I mean, there
is nothing good going to come out of it. Whoever, did it has got
problems. They need help."


Phillips said that they've never had
any problems in their neighborhood on County Road 600 in Rogersville
before, but she believes the culprit was someone who lives nearby
because the cat never wandered too far from home. She said she has a
message for that person.


"I would say that you are a very sick
person and anybody hunting, you know it's OK to hunt for food, but you
don't kill cats and dogs," said Phillips. "You don't shoot at cats and
dogs because they belong to somebody."








Masonia said that the arrow is from a crossbow and it looks like it was
fired at close range because of the way it went through Georgie's head.


"If
somebody's cruel enough to do that to an animal, to go that far to be
that cruel to an animal, would they stop with an animal?" said Masonia.
"Would they be cruel enough to do that to someone else or one of my
pets or anybody else's pets around here. Don't nobody want that
happening to their pets."

"I hope
we find out who done it," said Masonia. "I hope we find out who done
it, and I hope they get what they got coming to them."
