Very interesting. So this was Muslim extremists versus normal Muslims who just want to get along with their fellow countrymen and neighbors? You don't hear too much about that kind of thing and that is a shame the way I see it. Yep they invaded Dagistan in order to recruit more extremists to fight the Russians but got resistance from the civilians.
Russia in turn answered with resignation of their president Yeltsin and appointed former head of KGB (at that time renamed to FSB) Putin as commander in chief and let em deal with the situation.

Thanks for sharing. Interesting, I dont speak Russian, yet were there Civilians of that area disagreeing with the Jihadi's actions and trying to set up in the area? if so good for them.
