Would help if this were put in context of per capita murder rates.
For example, I know the population of Russia is approximately half that of the USA, yet the total number of murders is different by only a few hundred. So the murder rate must be about 2x that of USA.
According to wikipedia, the world's per-capita deadliest by far is Honduras.

Rebels are constantly reporting their dead because it shows just how many are being killed which brings support for their cause. You have to consider how/if murder is reported, murder per capita etc. I doubt there is any real numbers. If a guy in Saudi Arabia is beheaded for blasphemy, it probably isn't counted as murder, even though I see it that way.

Nice video and a kick ass tune.
Interesting figures there. But these are just totals and its more interesting to see murders per every 100,000 people, say. If it was proportioned to population, India would not be number 1.
check this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate
India has 4.1 murders per 100,000 with a count over 40k. That rate is relatively way lower than Honduras, with a rate of 91.6 per 100,000 but a total homicide count of 7,100.
