A 14-year old boy from the West Bank settlement of Yitzhar underwent an operation Friday due to wounds he sustained from stones thrown at him by Palestinians. In another incident, a 4-year old girl was lightly wounded by a Molotov cocktail
The boy was hurt Thursday evening outside the gates of Yitzhar. Yigal Amitai, spokesman for the settlement, told Ynet that he had been on his way home from school.
"Arabs from Burin village nearby started to throw stones at him and his friends as they stood at the junction," Amitai said. "He received a direct blow to the head, and is suffering from internal bleeding and a skull fracture."
He said the boy's neighbors treated him on the scene before he was evacuated to Ariel by ambulance. The incident fanned flames sparked by the murder of Meir Avshalom Hai Thursday, and reports of stone-throwing emerged Friday from both sides.
In a separate incident Friday morning a 4-year old girl was lightly injured when a Molotov cocktail was thrown at the car in which she was traveling with her parents.
The family was traveling from the West Bank settlement of Ali to Ariel when Palestinian teens threw the firebomb at their car. It shattered on the side of the car, but flames that came in through the girl's open window wounded her.
"The girl mostly suffered from profound anxiety," paramedic Neriyah Katua told Ynet. "There was a smell of burnt hair." He said she was otherwise unharmed.
Yesha Council members blamed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the attacks. "The prime minister, by what he told the Knesset Wednesday, prided himself on the wholesale removal of checkpoints in addition to the transferring of authority to the Palestinians," Yesha Council Chairman Danny Dayan told Ynet.
"This, in addition to support for terror with the release of hundreds of murderers, is fanning flames in the field. Terrorists have more motivation and opportunities for action now."
Dayan added, "The gestures for Abbas have cost us blood, and not for the first time. When we talk about empowering Abbas and gestures for Abbas there are always terror attacks. Today they are in Judea and Samaria, but they will also arrive in central Israel."
