Jimmy Buffett Falls Off Stage in Sydney, Australia

Jimmy Buffett has been hospitalized in Sydney, Australia, for an apparent head injury after falling off the stage at a concert on Wednesday night.

Mr. Buffett, 64, was performing during a sold-out concert at the Hordern Pavilion when — after singing the lines “It’s been a lovely cruise, I’m sorry it’s ended,” from his 1977 song “Lovely Cruise” — he fell off the stage into the front row. Audience members told The Telegraph that Mr. Buffett had fallen face-first and struck his head on the way down. He lay bleeding on the floor until he was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney some 30 minutes later. The Hordern show came after three sold-out concerts at the Sydney Opera House.

Mr. Buffett’s Australian tour manager did not comment for The Telegraph. Mr. Buffett’s Web site has been updated with a note acknowledging the fall, and adding: “The doctors say he is doing well and will be released tomorrow.”
