A Complete Multi Country Cooperational Military Amphibious Beach Assault In HD

The coolest thing about these videos to me is, is this would've been what D-Day would've looked like in a way. We get full HD and color video now, and a little better equipment, but in essence, this is what it would've looked like. (plus a lot of human deaths).

Kaneohe Marine Corps Base - Hawaii (Aug. 1, 2012) Marine Amphibious
Assault Vehicles storm KBAY beach as the final training exercise during
the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2012. Twenty-two nations, more than 40
ships and submarines, more than 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are in
RIMPAC exercise from June 29 to Aug. 3, in and around the Hawaiian
Islands. The world's largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC
provides a unique training opportunity that helps participants foster
and sustain the cooperative relationships that are critical to ensuring
the safety of sea lanes and security on the world's oceans. RIMPAC 2012
is the 23rd exercise in the series that began in 1971.

  • Much rather be in that AAV than a WWII Higgins boat. Although, for it's era it was a game changer.

    • @RustyNailer I would prefer to be in a higgins tbh, if it gets hit I will be able to get out.

AAVs are ridiculously slow, enclosed and have absolutely fuck all armour, the worst day for combat deaths in Iraq was due to a single RPG fired at a fully loaded AAV killing all 25 on board.

Amphibious warfare is one of the most neglected theaters when it comes to procurement in the US military, Russia and China have numerous modern amphibious tanks, APCs, SPGs and hovercrafts all able to fire on t More..

  • Impressive landing.

Back in WWII, the bulk of the amphibious vehicles would have been "ducks" -- basically six-wheeled ATVs with props, about the size of an Econoline van, with a machine gun on top. They were lightly armored if at all, nothing like these tank-like behemoths.

  • i dont see it working on todays battlefeild, long rang arty or airpower if still in tact would kill them fast and at that point tactical nukes would be used by china.

    • @nowhereman1 They wouldn't be launched into those threats. And there would be Cobras and FA-18s over head.

    • @altai8008 Dude....there are few countries America would invade....and even fewer which gives them the ability to do a beach landing....It's Iran I assure you.

    • @bigcats yeah maybe, my point was that most militaries do these kind of exercises all the time. it says on the video theyve been holding the RIMPAC exercise since 1971. its not an ominous harbinger of impending war, just business as usual.

    • @altai8008 No you are probably right its not impending war mate....but nothing like practicing with for what 'could' come.....just like us brits always trained as if it was the russians and now we train as per middle east. its all about the right mind set.

  • A critical capability. Wasn't it Panama that NBC news set up at the beach to broadcast our "secret" landing live so Noriega would know we're coming? The look on the soldiers faces was priceless.

I hope someday soon the movie Final Option is remade or another movie (drama, not action) using the same concept of modern hardware being magically transported to WWII. WWII bullets and artillery kill just fine, it'd be interesting to see what advantages other than speed, distance, and c More..

Id say the biggest difference now is Air superiority. Yea we had it in WWII, but now-a-days its just plain hell from the sky.

    • @dl659

So true. In those days, just navigating to the target and spotting it was a battle. Then, unless the target was truly huge, hitting it was almost a crapshoot. The solution was to drop loads upon loads of bombs on things you really wanted to destroy.

Now, a plane goes out with 4 bombs and obliterates 4 targets. Then goes back for more, and does another run before lunch.

    • @dl659 I think the planes and artillery would require laser targeting to be directed and ensure a hit, thats alot more difficult now. Theres a constant war on offense/defense. And that goes for our ground units aswell.
