I have one of these planned for Tuesday (the 10th), I just wanted to see what to expect.

"The best tip for preventing ingrown toenails is: trim your nails straight across the top -- NOT in a rounded shape. In addition, avoid wearing shoes or socks that squeeze your toes together."
Just FYI.

@starskyandhutch69 That is the best advice out there. I had this done when I was a kid.

still not sure why i am watching this. for some reason this made me more uneasy than a bunch of body parts lying everywhere after a drifting accident.

I have done that to myself before, but never let the nail get so bad that a doctor has to do it.

@Rhemis Exactly. I've fixed quite a few of mine. The one reason why I ever went to a doc for one was to burn it so it wouldn't grow back out in that direction anymore.

I had this done a couple years ago. The only part that sucks is being poked by the needle to numb your toe. After care was just soaking in an iodine solution a couple times a day and keep it dry and clean with a fresh bandaging.

I had this done when I was a kid. They didn't use enough locals though, felt the whole damn thing.

Interesting. I thought the whole nail had to be removed or is that a technique of the past? Just do as my wife did when she slipped barefooted on the berber carpted stairs and have the tip of the nail catch the edge of the step, flip the nail up like a car hood at it's bottom edge. Hell, it wasnt ingrown or numbed.

I've had both toes done with a full anaesthetic. They stayed bleeding and sore for weeks.
Years later I had a 'touch-up' at the local doctor just like this video. That was much easier.
I guess the full-anaesthetic job removed the nail roots as well.

Yeah, same as me. So i'm wondering what the acid is they use?
Don't mind a bit of acid pain for a few minutes if it's never going to grow back.

@Obba41 ye me too... i would do it as long as i knew it was safe... in fact i would probably acid my little toe nails off completely as they are of no use at all lol
