Mike, Slopes were Vietnamese.
Koreans are Han Gook, the land of Han, Gook being the person.
Han Gook and Me Gook. They were scripted into the Japanese Army and when captured by US soldiers during WW2 would say,,,,Me Gook or Mi Gook,,,,to let the Americans know they were Korean, not Japanese.
This is where the term Gook came from.
Lived there for two years, 73-74

It was not racist at the start or even in this day. It is how it's used that makes it racist.
Sadly,it is used in a racist way so much that it is hard for most people to see it any other way, especially in the States.
